Note: In this song, the familar story of Noah
and the Ark (see Genesis
6:12-22) is partly combined with the
account of the Ark of the Covenant (though the two
words both translated 'Ark' in English are not the same
in the original Hebrew text).
The Ark of the Covenant was a wooden chest built to
contain the tablets of the Law. Its construction is
recorded in Exodus
25:10-22. For more information about

It is said by some people that the present location of
the Ark of the Covenant is in Ethiopia - see Graham
Hancock's book, The
Sign And The Seal.
The story of Noah's Ark is so well known as to scarcely
need an introduction. But here too, there is a link to
the idea of God's Covenant, for God says to Noah, "But
with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt
come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and
thy sons' wives with thee" (Genesis 6:18).
