The phrase 'I
am that I am' occurs only once in the Bible. God does not
reveal His Name to Moses, but instead uses this obscure
phrase, perhaps to emphasise the certainty of His
existence.
In the Rastafarian context, 'I am that I am' also links
neatly with the parallel expression, 'I and I'.
